The real tax planning happens at the banks/wirehouses but you need to hit liquid net worth thresholds of $15 million to gain access and most clients do not truly speak with their CPAs because they get charged high fees by the minute. In addition, there is an accountant shortage and the big CPA firms are feeling the pain forcing tax managers and directors/partners to be overwhelmed and unresponsive.
