Gray Wealth StrategiesI've found that clients come to me with a series of specific challenges that they'd like help with as they approach retirement and living in retirement. These challenges center around how to best: replace their employment income from the assets they've saved, minimize taxes paid now and in retirement, protect against the risks of the future (i.e. inflation, market downturns, unplanned health issues, assets taken from them unjustly, longevity, etc.) as well as how to avoid common mistakes that can be very costly over the course of their lifetime. There are dozens of important financial decisions you face that can easily feel confusing and overwhelming. This is where I can help you. I launched Gray Wealth Strategies to bring highly personal, truly objective, evidence-based advice to your key financial decisions. This is what we should expect as we make critical financial choices. Regrettably, however, a vast majority of the financial services industry does not operate under such a standard where the advice/products being recommended truly align with your best interests. In fact, you may have even experienced a few of those advisors yourself. I aim to change that experience for you. I operate under a fiduciary standard. This means that I am legally bound to provide objective advice in your best interests with zero product sales or commissions as your flat-fee only CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER. My flat-fee only structure is unique in the industry. We offer clients two flat-fee only options: 1) a one-time retirement plan which is intended for DIY investors who want to get a second opinion and validate their decisions and 2) a full-service wealth management relationship. As part of our full-service relationship, we focus on leveraging your retirement roadmap (i.e. initial financial plan) and using it to inform, customize, and optimize your investments, taxes, and estate planning needs. Clients who are familiar with the standard asset under management (AUM) fee structure (i.e. being charged a percentage of your assets) will appreciate these flexible, flat-fee only offerings, and I personally think it's a great way to objectively help pre-retirees and retirees. I absolutely love the work I do and I am proud of the value I bring to my client's key financial decisions. That said, my #1 pride is my family: my wife, Jessica, and our three children (Waverly, Everton, and Zealand). We split time between the outdoor wonderland of the Pacific Northwest where we mountain bike, ski, camp, and raise our littles, and the great city of Austin, TX where family resides and Lake Austin calls for fun family time. That's my why: being the best advisor I can be to my clients and living the best life possible with my family and friends. What's your why? And how can I best help you live it with the resources you have? Please reach out and I look forward to getting to know you.

Ryan Mohr
Principal & Founder
Clarity Capital ManagementI started my career in Financial Services in late 2007 by working as a registered representative of a large Insurance company for about 6 years. I worked with individuals and families to help them with financial planning issues as part of a larger team. I also spent a fair amount of my time engaged in the portfolio management side of the business helping to create and manage investment models and trade accounts that were managed by our team. I obtained my CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ designation in 2011 as I felt it was important to earn this designation to show my knowledge in all aspects of financial planning and to be able to better position myself to help my clients.
After feeling the need to grow in my career and experience, I made the difficult decision to leave that position in 2013 to pursue a new career in back office operations within a local Broker Dealer and ultimately managed a team supporting independent Financial Advisory Firms around the country. Over my 4 years with this company I expanded my knowledge of the financial industry by learning more about securities clearance and operations, compliance, and about the independent channel of advisers that are growing in this industry.
While I learned a great deal in my last role, I began to miss working with people on personal financial planning and investment management. I also started to see a huge need within my own age group for objective financial planning advice as the Gen X and Y generations were growing their families, their careers were growing and life’s changes take hold. Generation X and Y is very much ignored in this industry due to not having accumulated the degree of wealth as baby boomers and older generations, therefore generally viewed by our industry as being less profitable. I feel strongly that this is fundamentally wrong and that everyone, regardless of wealth, should have access to quality financial planning advice. I knew that the best way to provide this service was to build a business tailored to this age group. By building an independent financial planning firm, I can focus on providing sound advice that is tailored to my clients individual needs, not the needs of an overarching company.
In my free time, you may catch me outdoors running or cycling, hiking or generally enjoying the outdoors of the northwest with my wife Amalia, and 3 yr old son Adam!

Gary Duell
Financial Advisor
Duell Wealth PreservationGary was born in Garden City Kansas, moving with his family to Salem, Oregon at the age of 5. He graduated from Willamette University in 1974 with a double major in psychology and philosophy. There being a scarcity of philosophy jobs, Gary took a harrowing nine-month stint at Oregon State Hospital as a psychiatric security aide on the women’s maximum security unit. “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest” was filmed there during that time, which only added to the chaos. The experience prompted Gary to change careers. He graduated from Willamette U. again, in 1977, with an MBA. After 18 years with Farmers Insurance, first as an underwriter, then supervisor, and then as an agent, Gary left in 1996 due to the purchase of Farmers by British American Tobacco. In 1997 he completed the last series of courses and exams to get the Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) designation from The American College at Bryn Mawr PA. Now Gary provides comprehensive financial plans and the appropriate insurance and investments to implement them, continuing ethics education classes for insurance agents, as well as public seminars. He is on contract with Portland Community College’s Community Education department to provide retirement education to pre & current retirees, most notably, Social Security optimization. This is a common element of well-to-do individuals and couples: they are lifetime students. Every class has several “millionaires-next-door”. Gary served a three year term on the Clackamas County Economic Development Commission. He was Treasurer on the Clackamas Community Land Trust board of directors and helped merge the CCLT with Proud Ground, their Portland counterpart. For cutting edge information about the county visit: http://www.co.clackamas.or.us/ He is also a charter member, past President and former Treasurer of the Happy Valley Business Alliance. Gary loves what he does mostly because of the people he gets to work with. Many clients and friends have been made over the years. A majority of his time is donated to individuals and couples who can’t afford an advisor.
